Valmont release notes
What changed in each version of Valmont, newest first. The current version is 1.5.1, a free download from the Valmont theme page.
How to check which version you have
In your Shopify admin, open Online Store → Themes. The version appears under the theme name on the theme card.
1.5.1: free release (19 September 2026)
- Valmont became a free theme, downloadable from studio.mufatech.com.
- The footer shows a translated "Theme by Mufatech" credit link next to "Powered by Shopify". Keeping that link is the only condition of the free licence.
1.5.0: Theme Store standards (15 September 2026)
- Simpler by design. The wishlist, the theme's own cookie banner (use Shopify's built-in privacy banner instead) and appointment time slots were removed. Private viewing is now an enquiry form with a free-text field for preferred timing. Valmont ships one preset.
- Accessibility (WCAG 2.2 AA). Stronger text contrast, clearer borders on form fields, one consistent keyboard focus ring, larger touch targets, a pause control for rotating press quotes, and form errors linked to their fields.
- Translations. All storefront text, including messages shown by scripts, can be translated. The theme ships in 7 languages.
- Honest defaults. No demo images or links in the download, no warranty or delivery promises you have not made, urgency tools off until you turn them on.
- Safari and iPhone. No zoom on select fields, correct spacing around the iPhone notch, and drawers that scroll on their own.
- Speed. Styles split by page type so each page loads only what it uses, preloaded fonts, lazy-loaded product cards below the fold and responsive hero images.
1.4.0: tools built into the theme (15 September 2026)
- Luxury clienteling: price on request with an enquiry form, a register-interest list for limited editions, engraving with a case-back preview, numbered pre-orders that follow real inventory, and an estimated dispatch date.
- Private viewing requests for in-store viewings, video consultations and service drop-offs, through Shopify's contact form.
- Selling tools: back-in-stock sign-up, low-stock notice from real inventory, complete-the-set bundles, a before and after slider, a sign-up popup, a trust and payment strip and a rotating announcement bar.
- Valmont Store Kit: a separate folder with a setup script for metafields and pages, CSV templates, notification templates, Shopify Flow recipes, a launch checklist and an update guide. See What's included.
1.3.0: every page to the same standard (15 September 2026)
- Cart page with a sticky summary, a free-shipping progress bar and express checkout.
- Redesigned customer account pages, 404 page and password page.
- A magazine-style journal, search results with type tabs, and all 18 page templates reworked.
- Filter and sort drawer with a live result count; a lighter demo film.
1.2.0: art direction (15 September 2026)
- Calmer hero and header, simpler product cards, flat buttons.
- Product page with a sticky gallery, quantity stepper, and details, specifications, delivery and care in accordions.
- Quick view with the full purchase panel; search drawer with popular and recent searches and predictive results.
1.1.0: more sections and settings (15 September 2026)
- Eight new sections: slideshow, image with text, rich text, multicolumn, video, logo list, collapsible content and countdown banner, plus a ready-made landing page template.
- New settings for page width, button corners, product cards, sale badges and cart type (drawer or page).
- Collection pages with 1 or 2 columns on phones, 4 to 48 products per page, and page numbers, a load-more button or infinite scroll.
How to update without losing your settings
- In Online Store → Themes, duplicate your live theme so you have a backup.
- Upload the new ZIP. It arrives as an unpublished theme, so shoppers see nothing yet.
- Check your settings, sections and custom code in the new copy, and test adding to cart on a phone.
- Publish when everything looks right. Products, collections, pages and menus live in your store, not in the theme, so an update never touches them.
