Migration service · terms

What you can hold us to.

These are the terms of every WooCommerce to Shopify migration we take on. They are written to be read, not skimmed past: when you pay, what happens if you change your mind, what we fix after launch and what we do with your data. Your written plan links to the version that applies to your project.

One price, in writing. It changes only if the scope changes, and only after you agree.
Nothing to pay before you see it.You pay when you approve a working preview of your new store.
Say no, owe nothing.Stop at any point before approval. No fee, no invoice.
30 days of fixes.Anything we moved that turns out missing or wrong, fixed free.
Your data, then gone.Copies are deleted 30 days after launch, or when you stop.

When money changes hands

Most of a migration happens before you pay anything. We build the new store in our own Shopify Partner account, you check it, and only then does an invoice exist.

  1. ScanFree, public data only.
  2. Written planScope, plugin decisions, fixed price.
  3. Private buildA copy of your store, on Shopify.
  4. Preview + QA reportYou check every count.
  5. You approve and payThe store is transferred to you.
  6. Launch + 30 daysFixes, then your data is deleted.
You have paid nothing Paid, covered by the fix period

The plan and the price

After the scan and, where needed, a read-only connection to your store, we send a written plan. It lists what moves and in what numbers, what replaces each plugin that matters, how products that do not fit Shopify's three-option limit will be restructured, how many URLs get a redirect, and one fixed price. A sample plan shows the format.

The price covers what the plan lists, and nothing in it is an estimate. If you later ask for something the plan does not include, we quote it separately and wait for your yes before doing it. If we find something during the build that the plan missed and that is our mistake, it is our cost. The quote is valid for 30 days, because stores change.

Included when the plan lists it

  • Products, variants, images and collections
  • Customers, with their marketing consent
  • Order history, in the volume the plan states
  • Pages, blog posts and SEO fields
  • A 301 redirect for every old URL
  • Theme setup in your brand
  • Reviews, gift card balances, custom fields

Never included unless quoted

  • New features your old store did not have
  • Custom app development
  • Rewriting product copy or new photography
  • Your Shopify plan, apps and paid theme licences, which you pay to their providers
  • Marketing or SEO work beyond carrying over what exists

Access to your store

We ask for the least access that gets the job done. Usually that is a WooCommerce REST API key with read permission. Some plugins keep their data where the API cannot see it; in that case we ask for a database export or a temporary user, and we tell you why before you create it.

We never ask for passwords to your payment provider, bank or email account. We change nothing on your WooCommerce site while we work, so it keeps selling. On launch day the domain is switched by you, or by us with your approval. When the project ends, revoke every key and user we had. The migration checklist has that step on it, and so does your plan.

Preview and QA report

When the build is done you get a password-protected link to the new store and a QA report. The report puts the count of every data type in your old store next to the count in the new one, and explains every difference: a duplicate customer merged, an image that was already missing on your server, a variation expanded into three variants. If a number does not match and the report does not say why, that is a fault on our side.

Click through it with your team. Tell us what is wrong and we fix it before you approve. Corrections of anything we got wrong are always included, however many rounds that takes. Changes of mind, such as a different layout from the one in the plan, are quoted first.

Payment and handover

You pay the fixed price in full when you approve the preview. We send the invoice on that day, and the store is transferred to your ownership once it is paid. From the transfer onward you choose and pay for your Shopify plan directly with Shopify, and any apps directly with their developers.

One cost to know about in advance

Stores that a Shopify Partner builds and transfers are not eligible for Shopify's new-merchant trials and promotions. We say this in the plan too, so it is part of the total you approve.

If you decide not to go ahead

You can stop at any point before you approve the preview, for any reason or none. You owe us nothing and receive no invoice. We close the preview store and delete every copy of your data within 30 days, sooner if you ask, and confirm by email when it is done.

The 30 days after launch

For 30 days from launch day we fix, at no cost, anything that was in the plan and turns out to be missing, wrong or broken because of the migration. If you give us access, we also check Search Console and the redirect list for new 404 errors during that time, because that is when a missed URL costs you.

We fix it

  • A product, customer or order that did not arrive
  • A wrong price, SKU, stock count or variant
  • An old URL that returns 404 instead of redirecting
  • A theme section we set up that does not work

Quoted separately

  • Changes made after launch by you or an app
  • Problems caused by a third-party app or a Shopify outage
  • New features or design changes

Your data

Your store's data is used for your migration and nothing else. We do not sell it, share it or use it to train anything. Copies of it are deleted 30 days after launch, when the fix period ends, or within 30 days of you stopping the project. We keep the written plan, the QA report and the invoice, because they are the record of what we agreed and did. The privacy notice explains the scanner side, including what a scan stores.

What we do not promise

Nobody can promise search rankings or sales after a platform move, and we don't. What we do promise is the part we control: every URL redirected, every SEO field carried over and every count accounted for. Rankings move around for a while after any site move as search engines recrawl, which Google tells site owners to expect; the redirects guide covers what keeps that period short.

Our total liability for a migration is limited to the price you paid for it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.

The store and everything we set up in it are yours once paid. Our own scripts and tools stay ours. If your store uses one of our themes, that theme's licence applies to it.

Questions before you start

Write to [email protected]. If something here is unclear, that is a fault in the text and we would rather fix it than explain it once.
