Stocky alternative: what replaces each Stocky job, and what it costs.

Shopify shut Stocky down on 31 August 2026. Most of what it did now sits in the Shopify admin at no extra cost, and only three of its jobs need an app at all. Tick what you used Stocky for and the planner below builds your replacement, with the monthly cost.

  • 2 Feb 2026 Stocky left the App Store1
  • 31 Aug 2026 Stocky and its APIs stopped1
  • 29 Nov 2026 earliest the read-only export can end1

In brief

  • Stocky is gone. Shopify gives read-only access to export your data for at least 90 days after 31 August 2026. Suppliers cannot be exported, and past purchase orders cannot be imported into Shopify.1
  • Purchase orders, receiving, suppliers, transfers, stock counts, adjustments, low-stock alerts and inventory reports are all in the Shopify admin now.1
  • Three jobs are not: emailing a PO, filling a PO from a forecast, and average or landed cost on receiving. Shopify sends you to apps or to Sidekick for those.1
  • On 10 October 2026 one free app, Stockroom by MyWorks, listed all three. It is three months old. The cheapest app with over 100 reviews that fills POs from a forecast was Assisty, from $39 a month.1419

What happened to Stocky

Stocky was Shopify's own inventory app, launched in 2015 and included with a POS Pro subscription.4 It raised purchase orders from six kinds of forecast, ran stocktakes, and reported low stock, ABC grades and stock on hand.23 Shopify wound it down in 2026:

  1. 2 February 2026 Stocky was delisted from the Shopify App Store. It could no longer be installed or reinstalled.1
  2. Mid-August 2026 Shopify told merchants to stop creating new purchase orders in Stocky about 14 days before the end, and to finish open ones.1
  3. 31 August 2026 Stocky stopped working as an app, and the Stocky APIs stopped too, so every integration built on them went quiet.1
  4. 29 November 2026 at the earliest The end of the read-only window. Shopify promises "at least 90 days" after 31 August and has not given a closing date.1

Shopify's advice is to move the work into the Shopify admin and Shopify POS, export what you want to keep, close open purchase orders, test the new workflows, remove the Stocky Transfers tile from the POS smart grid, and check your integrations.1 For forecasting it points to Sidekick, the assistant in the admin, which it says can suggest what to reorder and draft the purchase order.1

Two apps that older "Stocky alternative" lists still recommend are gone as well. Genie shut down on 31 August 2025,31 and Cogsy has been discontinued, though its App Store page is still up.32

The pattern is plain. Everything that records stock moving in, out and between places came across. The thinking Stocky did for you did not: which forecast to trust, what that means in units, and what a received unit really cost once freight is in.

Where Store Diagnosis fits, and where it does not

Store Diagnosis is our free Shopify app. It reads your products, stock and orders, and it cannot change anything in your store.33 Against Stocky's list, it covers the reports, with the arithmetic shown:

  • Low stock: best-sellers that will run out before a reorder lands, the sales at risk in money, and how many to order to cover a 21-day lead time and 45 days of selling after it.
  • ABC: A, B and C over the whole period it reads, where Shopify's own report looks at 28 days.
  • Stock value: the money in stock at cost, split into dead, stale, slow and selling.
  • Profit by product: net sales, discounts, refunds, cost and payment fees per product.

It is not a purchasing tool. It does not create purchase orders, receive stock, move it between locations or count it. It does not forecast either. Its reorder quantity comes from the selling pace of the last 30 and 90 days and one 21-day lead time for every product, and it reads 60 days of orders until Shopify approves access to older ones.33 If you need a PO filled from last year's season, that is an app's job.

Store Diagnosis, free and read-only.

  • Best-sellers about to run out, with a reorder quantity
  • Dead and slow stock valued at cost
  • ABC classes and profit by product
  • Discounts and refunds that cost margin

Stock that stopped selling while you were busy with the migration is the other half of the problem. Mufatech Clearance marks it down as it ages and never under a margin floor you set. It is coming to the Shopify App Store and cannot be installed yet.

Paid apps compared

These are the apps merchants are moving to, read from their App Store listings on 10 October 2026, cheapest first for the three jobs the admin does not do. "Covers" means the listing describes the feature; we have not tested each app. "Low reviews" sums up each app's 1 and 2 star reviews. Prices are US dollars a month. A dashed card has fewer than 10 reviews, and the planner leaves it out.

Three things to weigh beyond the price:

  • Age. Stockroom, Replenio and Stockful all launched in 2026. Few reviews means few people have found the rough edges yet.
  • How the price grows. Prediko and Fabrikatör cap plans by your revenue, Sumtracker by orders a year, Assisty by your Shopify plan, Stockful by SKUs and locations. Inventory Planner quotes on request, and its low reviews describe yearly contracts paid up front.212324191827
  • Where your POs live. MyWorks says apps still cannot work with purchase orders made in the Shopify admin.15 If an app runs your purchasing, keep all of it there.

Frequently asked questions

Is Stocky still available?

No. Shopify removed Stocky from the Shopify App Store on 2 February 2026 and says it is no longer available as of 31 August 2026, when its APIs also stopped working. Shopify gives read-only access to export Stocky data for at least 90 days after that date, which runs to 29 November 2026 at the earliest.

Can I still export my Stocky data?

For now, yes. Shopify promises read-only access for at least 90 days after 31 August 2026. Export completed purchase order reports as CSV, your stocktake history and your historical cost data from Stocky's reports. Suppliers cannot be exported, so copy them by hand, and past purchase orders cannot be imported into Shopify.

What is the best free Stocky alternative?

For most jobs, the Shopify admin itself: purchase orders, receiving, suppliers, transfers between locations, stock counts, adjustments, low-stock alerts in Shopify Flow and inventory reports. Three Stocky jobs have no home in the admin: emailing POs, POs filled from a forecast, and average or landed cost on receiving. As of 10 October 2026, Stockroom by MyWorks covers all three on a free plan; it launched in July 2026 and had 56 reviews.

Do I still need POS Pro after Stocky?

Only for what POS Pro itself does. Stocky came with POS Pro. Its replacements in the Shopify admin do not need it, but counting stock inside the Shopify POS app does: Shopify says running stock counts in POS requires POS Pro and POS version 11.16 or later. POS Pro is $89 a month per location, billed yearly.

Is Store Diagnosis a Stocky replacement?

Only for the reporting part. Store Diagnosis is a free, read-only Shopify app from Mufatech that finds best-sellers about to run out with a reorder quantity, dead stock valued at cost, ABC classes and profit by product. It does not create purchase orders, transfers or stock counts, and it does not forecast beyond the recent selling pace.

Does Shopify have purchase orders without Stocky?

Yes. Purchase orders are in the Shopify admin: products, quantities, costs, payment terms and supplier, saved as a draft or marked Ordered, then received through a transfer in the admin or in Shopify POS. You cannot email a PO from the admin, convert a customer order into a PO or merge POs, and a CSV upload only adds line items to a new draft.
